Our mission is to encourage and sustain
interdisciplinary collaborations between established, mid-career,
and emerging artists and scholars, and to broaden the dialogue
between southern Italy and the rest of the world.

We offer and curate short and long-term residencies and fellowships, exhibitions, workshops, and symposia,
believing that the significant contributions of artists and scholars with distinguished careers
can stir the work of those who have yet to be fully recognized for what they do.
BACAS aims to ferment artistic and intellectual interactions across stages of careers, genres, and disciplines.

Immersed in the setting of any of the hilltop towns of our beautiful valley, rich with historical significance and natural beauty,
artists and scholars have space and time to work undisturbed, in solitude, and/or in collaboration with others,
to create lasting works of imagination and ingenuity.

The role of culture today is more than ever a political act. Those involved in planning cultural programming have an enormous task because it creates the tools, conditions and relationships necessary to organize dissent against those who instrumentalize fears. There will always be a politician who spits on the fire of creativity and will reach consensus first, but on the ground, the cultural agents committed to engage and counter the wall builders will play the necessary change card.
